Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police

A 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit Corporation Supporting the

Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit

Our Purpose

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to providing support to the Bethlehem Police Mounted Unit.

The Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police (FBMP) ensure the care and well-being of the horses and maintain Quadrant Private Wealth Stables, a first class facility built for the horses and mounted officers. 100% of the Mounted Unit’s expenses are supported by individual donors, local businesses, and foundations.

We enhance public awareness of the Mounted Unit’s role through community engagement events and programs at our stables, throughout Bethlehem, and the Lehigh Valley.

Asa

Asa was born in 2011. He is a dark bay with white socks on his hind legs and a small star on his forehead. He is a big guy at 16.3 hands and over 1800 pounds. He is a Percheron/ Thoroughbred cross, raised to serve the police unit. He received his training in Kentucky.

Grey

Like Asa, Grey was born in 2011. In fact they were barn mates from the start at a Mounted Police Training program in Kentucky. Grey stands at 17.1 hands at the withers and also weighs in at about 1800 pounds.. He is easy to pick out in the crowd since he is the lightest color and one of only two gray horses in the unit. He is a Percheron/ Thoroughbred cross.

Casper

Casper joined the unit in 2020 also a graduate of a Mounted Police Training program. Born in 2017, Casper is a Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross weighing in over 1800 pounds. Casper is also a bay with a large white blaze down his face. He is easily identified by his white socks on his right legs.

Seamus

Séamus is a four year old Percheron/Thoroughbred cross who officially joined the unit in June of 2022. He stands at 17 hands high and weighs approximately 1400lbs. Like several of our other horses, Séamus is a graduate of a Mounted police training program and came to us ready to work. Don't get this handsome fellow confused with the other gray horse in our herd, he definitely has unique markings that set them apart.

Mason

Mason is one of the younger members of the Mounted Unit. He was born in 2016. He is a Belgian/Percheron cross with a freckled white blaze and is the only full draft breed in the unit. Mason comes to the unit from a farm in Ohio with experience as a former carriage horse. While one of the youngest, Mason also is the biggest of the boys weighing in at over 1,900 pounds.

Star of Bethlehem

Star Of Bethlehem is the Bethlehem Mounted Police Unit’s newest and youngest Service Mount. He is a four-year old Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross, also hailing from the same training program in Kentucky. Born in June of 2018, Star of Bethlehem officially joined the Unit in 2022, pairing him with his older brother Casper. He currently stands at 17.0 hands high and weighs 1500lbs. He is black with 4 white socks and a white blaze.
